Has anyone else checked out that link on the right titled "Eye Candy?" Super cool images shown! Mind blowing actually... The website is called visualcomplexity.com and it says that "functional visualizations are more than innovative statistical analyses and computational algorithms. They must make sense to the user and require a visual language system that uses colour, shape, line, hierarchy and composition to communicate clearly and appropriately, much like the alphabetic and character-based languages used worldwide between humans." I invite everyone to take a look... Super interesting

ReplyDeleteThis is a great site and there are maps there pertaining to population. Note that functions involve an assignment of values using a rule so these designs are all based on composing functions just as one would compose music!
I checked that website out after you posted this. I'm not sure if I otherwise would have so thanks! This is an awesome website for those of us who are visual learners. On thing I found really interesting was the visualization of an event that is spread through the use of Twitter. It showed something like the earthquake in Japan and had lines from the source of the news to all of the places where people Tweeted about what had happened. Really interesting way to view social networking.
