¡exponential growth function quiz problem for super cool kids!~~~
John and Jane start a rumor together, at 12:00 pm on monday. They tell all their friends and it spreads exponentially in a function where time is measured in days. Assuming that this pattern follows one of natural growth, and by the same time on friday, a total of 100 people have heard it, how many people will have heard the rumor by 12:00 pm the following friday? [hint: use the value 2 on monday as the initial ‘y’ value, as it is the first moment for which a value is given]
- How long will it take for 1,000,456 people to have heard the rumor (to the minute).
- Next, see what would happen if the rumor followed a different pattern, where two people each told two people, who each told two people, etc. Show it in a graph.
- Then write a function for if this same pattern occurred but it started 2 days later. Graph both of these functions and list the domain, range, and asymptotes.
