Reading

On page 226 it says since x = 2 is a zero of f(x), we know that x-2 is a factor of f(x). I don't know why we know that and I don't see anything in the book to explain this either.
Also, I was reading online and saw y=y+2 being asked about. Any thoughts about it from you guys?

  1. At least part of the explanation includes the fact that when x is 2, then x - 2 is equal to 0. But there is more to say: let's wait for more comments.
